Long time, no see? How you been? Summer off to a good start? Getting excited for the best (if not at least the most cinematic) week of the year?
Standing here at the precipice of our 15th Anniversary edition, we know none of this would’ve ever been possible without the people of this unbelievably wonderful community stepping up to make it happen!
So today is the day we once again humbly come to ask you to join us on the grand adventure of the TCFF.
And making the whole thing even more imminent (I can’t believe it’s only 32 days away), is that our 2019 Schedule also dropped today. Set some time aside this weekend to really dive into all that’s on offer this year, from fantastic tasty flicks to late night thrills.
Practice your ballot counting and bust our the perfect pants to match your Grass Green volunteer tshirt, because this festival is coming!
If you’re not already familiar with the drill, you can signup for volunteer shifts by going to our website, logging in, and selecting your venue/area of interest. There will then be a variety of times to choose from with shifts ranging from 2.5-4.5 hours. Quick note, those tenacious heroes interested in Set-Up and Tear-Down shifts will have to wait just a little bit longer. Stand by for alerts. We’ll need you! Very much so!
Many of you seem to have an innate sense of what the right venue or volunteering area is for you, but even if you don’t, the good news is you really can’t go wrong. We have positions to fit every area of interest and schedule. Feel free to email us if you have any questions about what might be the perfect spot for you.

A PITCH FOR VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT MANAGERS
4-6 Hours of Time Available Each Day of the Festival + Love of the Festival + TC Pride and Sense of Community + Affinity for Polo Shirts = Top Managerial Candidate. While it’s certainly fun and gratifying to pick up some volunteer shifts (we need you!!), it’s a different kind of rewarding to become a managing member of venue team. The bonds you make with your venue team live on even after the festival ends. And the fun you’ll have together durning the week is something truly special — we think it gives the festival its vibrant energy.
On the fence? Join us at our Volunteer Manager Mixer on the Patio at Rare Bird Brewpub on Thursday, July 11 from 7 to 9 pm. Come have one on us, and see for yourself why there is no better group of people to spend a week with in the trenches making straight up movie magic!
SELECTING SHIFTS … THE “THREE SHIFTS, ONE VENUE” RULE
I see you there. Eyeing that movie. And I want you to see it. I just can’t guarantee you’ll see it while working a volunteer shift. We are counting on your help, so please select your shifts so they don’t conflict with your must see movies.
To make the most of your training and expertise, we also ask that you please sign up for at least three shifts, and preferably at the same venue. And if you’re up for it, sign up for consecutive shifts. If you do, a symbol may appear alerting you about overlapping shifts. Overlap is perfectly OK but ONLY when the shifts are at the SAME VENUE.
VOLUNTEER SCREENING AND ORIENTATION
On Monday, July 29, we get to show you, the volunteers who make the show run, a special free screening of one of the festival’s most primo movies. This year we’ll be showing “Picture Character” at The Kubrick. We don’t want to give much away about it, but I’ll give you a hint: 😀 😍 🍿🎥
You can pick up your credentials along with your volunteer-exclusive tshirt (in that lovely Grass Green I mentioned), on Friday, July 26 at the State Theatre and on Saturday, July 27 at our new festival headquarters, which is at 140 E Front Street (on the second floor of the Arcade Building between Plamondon Shoes and Harvest). You all bring such interesting personal experiences, unique talents, and fun personalities to the table that it continues to astound us that we get to be a part of such a cool crew. and the festival is all the better for each and everyone of your individual contributions. THANK YOU!
