Our Friends of the Film Festival are an incredibly dedicated crew, and we want them to have the best experience getting their tickets as possible. If you aren’t a Friend, there’s still time to sign up to benefit at this year’s festival. Join or renew now to get early dibs at tickets – Friends memberships purchased now have benefits that last until tickets go on sale for the public on Saturday, July 13.

So, our Friends, let this helpful how-to be your guide to the fun and thrill of the hunt that is the first day of Friends of the Film Festival ticketing this Sunday, July 7.

If you’re joining us in person on Sunday, July 7, come to the State Theatre where the Friends line will initially form (going west down Front Street and turning north on Cass) and real camaraderie between friends is born. Some hearty folks have been known to arrive in the dead of night/wee hours of the morning as they secure their place in line, hang out in chairs, playing games, and talking flicks.

The State will open at 5 am for restroom and water access. We’ll then send the line inside the State Theatre around 8 am, and hand out line numbers (keep them handy!) upon entrance. Friends can then sit in comfort and watch trailers for festival films while waiting their turn to walk up the street to the conveniently located Main Box Office, which is in the old Sorellina building, at 120 Park Street, across from the Hardy Parking Deck.

A little before 9 am, we will call the first group of numbers, and volunteers will escort the group to the Box Office where Friends will be able to place their orders. This process of calling numbers and heading over as a group to the Main Box Office will repeat until the amount of people waiting has dwindled.

If you arrive after the initial load in to the State at 8 am, you will still be able to get a number upon arrival at the State. We are unable to provide definitive estimates of how long it will take until your number is called.

Online sales begin at tcff.org at 6 pm EST.

Certain things may sell out quickly, with hundreds of Friends all adding things to their cart at the same time and checking out. Rest assured, a percentage of tickets are held back for all films exclusively for online sales.  But also keep this in mind — there are over 90,000 tickets available for TCFF 2019’s carefully hand-picked features and shorts — not to mention all of the other free, non-ticketed movies, panels, and events. With a lineup this broad and enjoyable, you really can’t go wrong. So if you can’t get your first choice, or even your second, take a risk and try something a little outside of your comfort zone. Sometimes people tell us they find their favorite films this way.
