Hollywood Memorabilia exhibit to open at Dennos Museum

To coincide with the Traverse City Film Festival, the Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College will host the exhibition “Hollywood Memorabilia from the collection of Honor W. Loftstrom” now through September 5, 2010. Loftstrom was an acquaintance  of Montgomery (Monty) Orr, who was the art director at Universal Studios in the 1950s and 60s. Now, film treasures from Hollywood are coming to Traverse City!

Highlights of the exhibition will include the final draft of the script for the movie Planet Earth written by Juanita Bartlett and Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek. Also featured are numerous Showman’s Manuals, which were sent to movie houses to show what publicity was available for a film. The manuals included press releases, photos of sets and stars, interviews with movie stars, and radio ad scripts.

The Dennos Museum Center is open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Thursday until 8pm, and Sundays 1pm-5pm. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children, and free for museum members. For more information on the museum and the exhibition, go to www.dennosmusuem.org, or call 231-995-1055. The Dennos Museum Center is located at 1701 East Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49686, at the entrance to the campus of Northwestern Michigan College, and right next to Milliken Auditorium, one of the Film Festival’s venues. Be sure to stop by before or after films to check out this fantastic exhibition.
